despana

I'm almost afraid to talk about this place publicly because it is amazingly not as crowded as it should be at noon for Sunday brunch. Why noon? Because, to take full advantage of Despaña, you want to stop first by the next-door sister wine store to grab a bottle of interesting Spanish vino.Head to the back counter and order a couple of dishes per person, and the server will happily open your bottle and give you a couple of glasses at no charge. I recommend a tortilla (Spanish potato omelet), maybe a torta (sandwich) or flauta (mini sandwich), a pintxos (slice of bread with toppings), a salad or some meat or cheese. We haven't had a bad dish here.Despaña is also a fantastic place to grab meats, cheeses, olives, and other staples for Spanish cooking. There are supposed to be Paella events in the summer that we can't wait to try.
